Faction: UNSC or Covenant.
Rank: What rank you are allowed to have is determined by your RP sample (see below).
Here is a helpful link to the ranks used by the UNSC.
UNSC Ranks
Name: This is obvious. Keep it realistic.
Race: You can choose from Human, Elite, Brute, Jackal, Grunt and Hunter. Hunters always come in pairs so you must account for your bond brother in your application.
Age: Be reasonable and take Rank into account when determining your age. There are no Captains who are 18 years old and its also unlikely that there are any very low ranking people at age 50.
Height:
Weight:
Appearance: A brief description of hair style and colour, any facial hair and appearnace in general. A picture is always nice too.
Strengths: This is what your character is good at - their skills, talents, and strong traits.
Weaknesses: This is what your character is bad at - their flaws, problems, and weak traits.
Bio: Give a detailed narrative of your character life, from birth to the current time. There are no "unknowns". If your character does not know a part of their history, write it anyways and state that it is not known by the character, and why. Be sure to write all aspects of the characters history, including child life, family life, work, schooling, missions, training and other interactions. If you are unsure as to how long you’re bio should be, look at some of the previously accepted applications. Please avoid using dialog in your Bio.
NPCs: If you are of a rank higher than Corporal, you are expected to control a squad of at least 4 NPCs and up to 8 NPCs. In this section state the NPCs name, rank and position in the squad (Ie, Rifleman, Medic, Sniper, so on) and a brief description of their appearance and personality. Also include any other characters that you interact with regularly.
RP Sample: This MUST be a sample of how you will RP THIS character. DO NOT use a sample from another site or another character on this site. This is the main thing which Admins will look at after reviewing your character. It determines if you are good enough and mature enough to roleplay in the Main Rp.
Depending on what type of character you want to play as, you may need a higher-quality RP sample. The mods will use this rubric:
Tier 1 - Enlisted Marines, Grunts: Just a short RP sample will do - a few paragraphs. As long as it's readable and isn't laden with godmodding or similar stupidity, it'll probably pass.
Tier 2 - Marine NCOs, enlisted regular ODSTs, Grunt Ultras, Jackals/Skirmishers, standard Minor/Major Domo Elites (including fighter and dropship pilots*), UNSC Dropship/Fighter Pilots*: A little longer of an RP sample is required (around 250-500 words), and we will hold it to a slightly higher standard. In addition, ODSTs must have a player that commands a warship accept them onto their ship.
Tier 3 - Junior Marine/regular ODST Officers, Ultra Elites, Brutes of Captain rank, Jackal/Skirmisher Ultras, Spec Ops Grunts, Drone Swarms, COs of small UNSC or Jackal/Skirmisher ships such as corvettes: A much longer RP sample of several paragraphs is required, and we will check over this RP sample very carefully. RP sample length should be over 750 words.
Tier 4 - Senior Marine/ODST Officers, Special Operations ODSTs, ONI personnel, Spec Ops Elites, Hunters, Zealot-class Elites of Minor Standing (Field Masters and Ship Masters of Tier 4 and lower ships) COs of a medium-sized warship such as frigates, destroyers: A very long RP sample is required (should be over 1,000 words). We will check it over very very carefully for any godmodding or spelling errors. The character will need to be very well-written indeed. You will need to ask a staff member to sponsor your character concept before you make it, via PMs or other means.
Tier 5 - SPARTANs, Zealot-class Elites of greater standing (Ship Masters of T5 Ships), Brute Chieftains, COs of carriers or cruisers: This had better be a very long, very very well written RP sample (should be over 1,500 words). We will scrutinize it heavily, to ensure that it's up to snuff, and no godmoding or spelling/grammar errors will be accepted. You'll need two staff members to sponsor your character concept before you apply. In effect, a character of this level will need to be pretty much perfect. Don't take it personally if even then the character is rejected - characters of this type have such enormous effects on the RP that they must be very tightly controlled. Additionally, we reserve the right to deny these types of characters on the basis that there isn't any 'room' for them at present, to avoid top-heavy overloading of the RP.
*Players wishing to command more than twelve craft should write according to the Tier 4 standard, though no sponsorship is required.
Above is the code which you should copy and paste into your post when you come to making your character profile. For ship applications, see below. Note that a ship application must include all appropriate character data for its commanding officer as is listed above - you may find it easier to apply for commanding officer and ship separately.
