Captain Samuel Ellington
For a man who has seen a lot of death and destruction, Ellington has been able to keep himself together through many battles. He has also been able to keep the ship together very well. For several years Samuel has been in command of the Destroyer, and it is almost as good shape as it was when it was built. Quick reactions, very well coordinated movements, and a stubborn attitude has made a name for his ship amongst the Insurrectionists. He and his ship have been apart of several Innie battles, as well as fights against the Covenant. Though, he has lost several Battles against the Covenant because of retreat orders, he has always made sure that his ship gave the first and the last hit.
Commander Donovan Checkers
Several years older then Samuel, Commander Checkers is a very, well-bred, space-fighter and a go-to guy for sneaky tactics. Since he has lost three of his own ships because of mistakes against the Covenant, FLEETCOM refuses to risk another ship. Instead, they put him with another man that knows how to fight. Placed as Second in Command of the Siren’s Kiss, Samuel is very glad to have this old-hawk onboard. Donovan helps to keep the ship unpredictable in battle and teaches Samuel ways to take down many of the Covenant Ships. He has taught the Captain several ways to get around the Covenant and mess with them.
“Once you piss them off, they’ll do anything to get payback” was the line Donovan used when they were battling a pair of Frigates that appeared while the Siren was on a routine jump to the outer Colonies. The ship has been able to escape several, fatal, situations because of this man‘s quick thinking. Donovan’s knowledge of the Covenant Ships after years of fighting gives the Siren's Kiss a slight edge over a lot of the smaller Covenant vessels..
Ship A.I: Siren
As being apart of a vessel that goes head first into battle, Siren has developed a more thorough thought processor and has several integrations that allow her to maneuver the Point-Defense Guns faster, and more accurately. As well as being able to think faster, she thinks more in-depth. As the Captain loves to blow up every Covenant vessel that appears, Siren makes it her job to supply him with the most thoughtful strategies and ideas that he may over look in a combat situation. After being on the Siren’s Kiss, the AI has developed a quiet and cold personality as well.
Chief of Communications: First Lieutenant Edgar Frenchman
True to his name, Edgar was born in France. Though, he grew up mostly in the United Kingdom. On the Siren, Edgar is the more laid-back crew member. He listens well, but tends to do things with very little effort, when they aren’t in a fight of course. He has been on the ship long enough to know that the covenant are no laughing matter, and when they are around he takes his job seriously. Not once has he let the Covenant take down the communications between the Siren and anything connected to it. Edgar has learned several tricks of how to establish different types of connections with ships and troops, making it difficult to figure out where the actual signal is coming from.
Chief of Assault Weapons: Lieutenant Ryan Smith
The Weapon’s operator, Ryan Smith is a cocky, middle-aged man whose been on the ship long enough to know what weapons to prepare for each situation. He’s been at his station ever since he stepped on the ship, and he has never been placed anywhere else. Whenever he is ordered to fire, he has always hit the target with the help of the AI. Though, he doesn’t hit the bull’s-eye every time, but he makes damn sure that the target feels the pain with every shot. He is in command of the MACs and the Archer missiles, but his partner in destruction controls the rest.
Chief of defence Weapons: Lieutenant Junior Grade Isaac Lefler
Lefler sits directly next to his Chief’s console, operating his own. He is there mostly to give Ryan the ability to focus just on the Covenant ships, while Isaac deals with the Siren’s defenses. Armed with the Eight PDGs and three Shivas, he is in command of everything that has to deal with keeping the ship safe from fighters and boarding craft. Though, since the PDGs are difficult to manage, a piece of the ship AI has been placed inside his console, leaving his job mostly to control the SHIVAs. As to keep himself from getting bored in the middle of a fight, Isaac tends to keep an eye on Covenant ships and helps Siren with gathering the correct firing solutions. Isaac himself is a very cheery guy, and get’s hyped up easily. He always thinks of the bright side of things, and never lets anything bring him down.
Chief of Navigation and Helmsman: Lieutenant Olivia Green
As one of the most mature out of the bridge of Men, Olivia is both the Navigations officer, and the silencer of any bickering. After years of dealing with the stupidity of her Male Bridge mates, she has become very use to their shenanigans when there isn’t a battle in front of them. She has gotten the respect of all of them, and when she yells, they listen. Olivia is young, in her mid-twenties, and a lot of the guys give her the space she needs. When she asks for them to stop, they listen. Captain Samuel has also drilled not their minds not to get any messy ideas, and keeps them all on a tight leash. Olivia is not only respected because of her ability to deal with the guys, but of her skills at keeping the ship going in the right direction. Even with the AI, she keeps most control of the ship in non-stressful situations. If a battle gets to tough, then Siren will either aid, or take control of the ship.
Assistant Navigator and Helmsman: Ensign Robert Dover
Placed at the console next to Olivia, Robert helps his officer by providing necessary ship data when she is busy with something else. He mostly stays quiet, and keeps to his station. To pass the time, he checks the Destroyer’s systems several times and keeps an eye on any fluctuations. Olivia treats him nicely, as he is another fresh recruit, and helps him if he asks. Though since Robert stays quiet, she sometimes forgets he is there until he says that he is doing another scan. Just to mess with his officer, Robert uses his silence and sometimes says “boo” to scare Olivia. He tries not to do it when she has coffee around, as to not piss her off to badly.
Chief of Intelligence: Lieutenant Marco Ferdinand
Placed on the Destroyer by the Office of Naval Intelligence, Marco is almost the complete opposite of what many may think. He does not keep secrets unless it is a serious matter, and it very out going. He does his job, but is very open to conversations with the crew. Even though many first thought of him as a shady guy when he first arrived because of attachment to ONI, a lot of the crew have learned to trust Marco. He does his job, and collects a lot of data from every engagement with the Covenant. With the help of a dumb AI, given to him by ONI for this purpose, he is able to understand and decipher much of Covenant transmissions. Since he isn’t to good at cracking through to much of the Covenant’s encryptions, he isn’t able to translate everything that he gets. Being an intelligence officer, Marco is very fluent in several Human languages, and can understand most others. Being with ONI for several years, and being around all the advanced technology, Marco has learned much of the Covenant languages as well. Though he hasn’t learned everything just yet.
Auxiliary Crew:
Chief of Ground Operations: Lieutenant Bill Ruten
After several years of being in the Troop, Bill took a turn for the better when he decided to join up with the Siren. He went from being a Helljumper on the ground, to a Helljumper at a computer. Bill was in the ODSTs for 18 years before he was offered a position on the Siren’s Kiss. Told that he would Command several Ground Operations, Bill gladly accepted the offer. To his despair, the Destroyer had rarely had to send in it’s arsenal. Only three times has the Destroyer sent in the calvery, and each time the battle was abruptly ended.
Ship Details:
Crew Patch/Badge: As with her name, the patch of the crew is a pair of red, luscious lips kissing the onlooker. The patch is circular and white with two rings. The inner ring is the picture of the lips, on the outer ring in the name of the ship and the patch wearer.

“Captain, slip-space ruptures on the edge of the system. The UNSC Downtown Candy has visuals of it and are sending the view to the fleet. Shall I patch them through?” Edgar’s fingers grazed over the holographic controls, hastily giving commands to his console to hold back the footage coming in from the Frigate until ordered otherwise.
“Let me see who we’re up against.” Captain Ellington leaned forward in his chair, staring forward at the bridge’s main-view screen as he awaited the feed from the satellites.
“And… Action.” Edgar smirked and tapped the final button just in time.
At the front end of the bridge, all eyes watched as the view of incoming Covenant vessels appeared in front of the stars. The blackness of space was already gone by the time the feed was up, and all that the crew could see was a large, white rift in space. Out of the whiteness, several bulbous, purple-colored sharks seemed to swim from the blankness of the rupture. From the sheer size, this fight wasn’t going to be easy. A Capital ship’s nose easily stuck out in the midst of several smaller noses. Even with the distance between the UNSC ship and the Covenant, Samuel could already tell what ship was what. Four Frigates, three Destroyers, a Capital ship, and five Corvettes. Quite a group for such a small planet that the UNSC has been hovering over.
“Siren, why do you think they are here?” Captain Ellington stood up and walked to the view screen, taking a closer look at the Covenant-ships as they continued to emerge from Slip-space.
“Us.” Siren’s words were cold and bland, though she may be right. For a while, the Siren’s Kiss has been pestering the Covenant that passed by.
Aided by three, some-what new, destroyers(excluding the Siren‘s Kiss, a Battle ship that was in command of the small group, and four frigates, the battle group had been a very good annoyance. The Siren’s Kiss stumbled upon this location while taking a random jump from Reach. Ellington had sent a high-priority report, and a few days later the battle group was ready and waiting. They were swift and deadly, jumping from one place to another to search for the Covenant. If someplace got to hot, the battle group simply entered slip-space and returned to the system before heading back to Reach.
“All hands, battle stations. Sound the alarms.” Captain Ellington stared at the Capital Ship as it slowly emerged from the rift. It would be a fine kill, but he just had to figure out how to kill it.
Behind him, alarms began to ring out through the Destroyer. It sounded like a stampede as the crew began to move about the belly of the ship. The bridge crew was already at their consoles, as they had been for the past few days. They had all been there, even Captain Ellington. They had used the intercom to call down to the mess hall if they needed something to eat or drink, and their chairs had turned to their beds. The Siren’s Kiss was always on alert when it was out this far, as the Covenant were known to come out of anywhere.
“Looks like to many people were asleep.” The Chief Weapons Officer, Ryan Smith, added to the noise.
“Laziness is starting to get the better of the crew.” Defensive Weapons Officer, Isaac Lefler chuckled to himself but was hit upside the head by Ryan.
“You’re one to talk! You’re lazy too.” Ryan growled and narrowed his eyes on his partner.
“All I do is sit here and watch you do everything. I haven’t gotten any kills in the past 4 engagements!” Isaac rubbed the back of his head and stared back at Ryan.
“Quiet you two. Focus on the fight.” Olivia, the Navigator and Helms-woman, said with enough authority that the two weapon-operators immediately returned to their duties.
Captain Ellington had listened carefully but never took his eyes off the view screen. Even though it was a bad time to say it, the two of them were right. The crew truly was getting a bit lazy lately, and it would be bad if they needed to be ready to fight immediately. They weren’t a big ship, so much of the crew weren’t really useful in combat except for fending off any boarding parties and fixing internal damages. Now that Sam thought about it, it really was boring to be a destroyer crewmember. Samuel never had to worry about that feeling, as he was always on the bridge. The quiet time in space was enjoyable to him, and being a navigator meant that he always had something to do.
“Sir, the Bloody Gallows is giving us the go ahead to engage. What should we do?” the Communications Chief, Edgar Frenchman looked over his shoulder at the Captain as he waited for a response.
Suddenly, every pair of eyes fell upon Captain Samuel Ellington as he continued to stare at the view screen. He imagined that this would be difficult, and against these odds, staying and fighting was almost suicide. Yet, they had fought against these odds before, and his crew was use to working under the pressure. As Samuel thought, the ship AI, Siren, appeared next to him on her pedestal. He ghastly figure stared at the view screen with him and numbers that rushed through her figure meant she had something to say.
“Siren? What do you think?” Samuel asked his AI for a lot of things, as she was a bit better at thinking in the long-run then he was.
“We have the know-how…” Siren pointed at the Capital ship, her nimble finger seemed to almost pierce through the screen and wrote ‘I’m dead’ all over the hull of it.
Captain Samuel smirked at the ship, and performed an about-face. Across the bridge it was quiet, and Ellington looked at every pair of eyes. They were waiting for the words that they enjoyed hearing so much. Samuel looked down at his Communications Officer and nodded. The man nodded back and began to tap in several commands as his Captain strode to his chair. Edgar gave the thumbs-up as the beacon that they always played was sent out. The recording was simple: “This is the UNSC Destroyer, Siren’s Kiss. We are here, and we’re going to make sure you know it.”
“Weapons?” Samuel took a seat and leaned back into his chair, relaxing his arms on their respective rests.
“MAC 1 is fully charged, MAC 2 is at 87%. Archer Pods 1-16 armed. 17-26 on stand-by.” Ryan’s rough hands quickly danced across the orange and yellow controls as the bow of the Destroyer lit up, showing him the conditions of the frontal weapon systems.
“All defence guns are armed. SHIVA tubes 1 and 2 armed. 3 is on stand-by.” Next to him, Isaac was doing the same, except his display showed the three SHIVA-nuke tubes and the eight point-defense guns that circled the ship.
“That‘s a big fleet, keep your eyes open for anything suspicious. Prepare our secret weapons as well incase we get close.” Samuel nodded to his Ground commander, who nodded back.
“Arming our secret weapons.” The Commander, Bill Ruten chuckled and tapped the intercom on his console that connected him to the ship’s speakers.
“ODSTs, prepare your presents for the Covenant!” A loud rumble of the Trooper’s replies was all they needed to hear to know they knew what to do.
“Take off this feed. I want to see the Covenant myself.” Samuel said to Edgar, who quickly complied.
The view screen that was coming in from their allied Frigate disappeared and the stars returned. In the distance, the crew could finally see what they were going up against with their own two eyes. It didn’t look like much from the distance they were at, but the battle group certainly had a problem. Yet, out of everything, the Capital ship was Samuel’s target. If he could at least knock it out of action for a while, it would be a plus for the entire UNSC. He just had to get to it, and get above it.
“Sir, our battle group is moving. Formation Red-Bird.” Marco, the Intelligence Officer, finally spoke up from his little spot on Ellington’s right.
“Red-bird? But that’s an offensive… What the hell is he thinking…” By ‘he’, Samuel meant Captain Hunter, who was in command of the battle group.
“No word from Bloody Gallows, we are still cleared to move freely.” Edgar added, knowing that the Captain likes to be kept updated on everything.
“Let them get the attention of the Covenant. 80 to Starboard and up, we’ll dive bomb while the main group engages to the front.” Samuel relaxed in his chair, as Olivia began to move the ship without even saying a word.
The engines of the Destroyer lit up like smalls suns as the reactions pushed the ship to the right and upwards. As they moved, Samuel waited for a few moments as Marco pulled together any intel on the newly arriving Covenant before asking for it. Captain Samuel hit a button on his own small console that lay on his left armrest, pulling up a hologram of the space around him. His Destroyer was turned in a weird angle, floating up and off to the right as the other ships headed straight for the Covenant fleet. The main Battle cruiser was in the middle of a triangle of Destroyers, bringing all of their MAC cannons to bear. The four Frigates had split into two groups and were drifting slowly outward but kept their single MACs pointed inwards as they tried to flank as well.
The Covenant responded to the movement by moving their own Frigates and Corvettes outward, but the Cruiser and Destroyers were staying tight. The main Covenant battle cruiser floated above the other smaller ships, staring directly at the UNSC cruiser. It was a good counter, and the UNSC was in a bigger pinch now since all of their ships had an opponent. Though, if Samuel could move his ship quickly enough, he may be able to even the odds by coming downwards. The Covenant ships weren’t moving to counter him, or so he thought.
As his Destroyer leveled out far above the actual area of the battle, he could see a Covenant Frigate in the distance. It’s main plasma launchers glowed green, creating two eyes as they glared at the Siren’s Kiss. Samuel smirked and hit the button, closing the hologram that showed the surrounding space. He looked towards the Frigate and narrowed his eyes. The Captain tapped his chair four times, and the ship began to turn slightly, bring their MACs to bear. From this distance, Ryan had a perfect shot. All he had to do was wait for Siren to bring up a solution.
“Time?” Samuel stared at the Frigate as the glow from the Frigate showed that they were almost ready to fire.
“5 seconds…” ,Siren said from her pedestal next to her Captain.
“Ryan, you know the drill.“ Samuel spoke slowly and clearly, glancing over to see the nod from his Lieutenant.
“Aye. Siren, feed it.” Ryan said, watching as his precious weapons honed in on their mark as the firing solutions flowed into his console and the ship‘s system.
“Firing main cannons!” Ryan called out loudly, tapping the command for the first MAC then the second immediately after.
The ship shuddered as the first slug was blasted forward across space, then again when the second tore outwards. Ryan turned his head to join the rest of the crew as they watched the rounds pump through space. The Frigate fired a plasma shot at the first MAC round, but missed as the slug tore into the ships shields, disintegrating upon impact. The second slug bore through the front of the ship, and punctured deep into the bowels of the craft. Ryan threw his hands up in victory, which was short-lived.
“Sir, two Corvettes moving into attack positions on our front.” Marco spoke out over the cheers of the crew.
“Ryan! How long will it take for the MACs?” Samuel started to feel uneasy, and his heart began to pound in his chest.
“10 minutes if we’re lucky!” Ryan spat, trying to figure away to get those percents up faster.
“Siren! Direct all power to the MACs. Ryan, arm the archers. This could get a little rough.” Samuel growled, leaning forward in his chair and cursing at himself for falling into this trap.
“MACs will be fully charged in 4 minutes. Archer pods are armed and ready to be fired.” Ryan spoke, his hands dancing on his keyboard.
“Siren, target the Corvette on our right with the MACs and the other with the Archers. Fire when the mac’s are charged. Olivia, reverse all engine power, back us up and get us out of their range.” Samuel was answered by the Corvette moving further away as the Destroyer backed away.
“2 minutes.” Ryan called out, watching as the MACs slowly charged up.
Olivia kept the Destroyer in reverse, and Siren prepared to fire on the Corvettes, but as flashes filled the bottom of the space view, Samuel felt a chill down his spine. Marco cheered and threw his hands up in the air before yelling out that the UNSC had fired. They had hit the cruiser and the Destroyers, but the ships were still moving. The Gallows wasn’t messing around this time, and as more flashes echoed, Marco cheered even louder.
“Two Covenant Destroyers are hit! They’ve taken hull damage! The cruiser has no shields! UNSC Frigates are engaging from just out of the Covenant’s range!” Marco called out, watching in awe.
“Sir! The Gallows is requesting that we fire on the cruiser!” Edgar’s voice echoed, making Samuel think of the situation.
His Destroyer has two Corvettes boring down on it, and an order to fire on a Cruiser. Samuel stood up and walked up to the observation glass, staring out at the two Corvettes. They were small craft, but they were quick. Even with their speed, the Destroyer was very nimble as well, and with Olivia piloting, it may not be a problem… They would just have to shoot and back up really quickly… Or they would have to pierce through the middle, which was suicide.
“Siren? You ready to fire?” Samuel stared out at the stars, looking at the Corvettes as he thought.
“Waiting for the Command.” Siren said as she appeared next to Samuel on her forward pedestal.
“Split the archers. 200 for each Corvette, pound the cruiser with everything we’ve got.” Samuel said, watching as Siren immediately began to act, tilting the ship downwards.
“Targeting…” Siren said, standing just like the Captain in her ghastly gown.
“Cruiser Aquired, MACs powered and ready. Archers armed and locked.” Siren said, halting the Destroyer so the Destroyer was pointed down at the Cruiser, directly at the heart of the ship.
“Fire at will.” Sam said, watching as Siren acknowledged then fired the twin MACs and 400 archer missiles into space.
Sam stared silent as he watched the MAC slugs hone in on the Battle Cruiser. The first slug slammed into what little shields it had regain, pounding against the hull and denting it before it’s energy disperse. The second didn’t stop, and slammed hard through the center of the cruiser, and created a gaping hole in the roof of the ship. A smirk crossed part of Samuel’s face as he watched the cruiser tilt and turn from the damage. As he watched, he saw several flickers of light cross the hull as it was peppered with explosions; Archer missiles.
The other ships must’ve taken the chance and fired, but their firing reminded Samuel of the Corvettes. He looked up, but he couldn’t see to high into space. He called for a visual, but as the ship tilted upwards while still going in reverse, he could see that the Corvettes had been slightly damaged, but were coming even with that. Samuel growled and kicked the railing that kept him from the glass. His knuckled burned a bit, but it was bearable.
“Edgar, radio the Frigates for some help. Tell them we’ve got some Corvettes up here. Siren, prime the rest of the Archers. Olivia, full burn backwards.” Samuel received simultaneous ‘Aye!’s as he gritted his teeth.
It was a stupid move. The Corvettes were the immediate threat, and they should have been dealt with first. He gripped the railing and watched as the two ships sped forward to their kill, but the Siren’s Kiss wouldn’t go down without a fight. Samuel waited as Siren primed the archer pods and listened as Edgar spoke over the COM to the Frigates for some help. This was just lovely.
“Edgar!!” Samuel yelled, turning to face his Communications Officer.
“Aye! We’re up above!… Yes those Corvettes! THOSE CORVETTES! Don’t ask how we got here, can you shoot or not?!” Edgar growled but finally sighed of relief.
“Captain, UNSC Frigates are busy, but the Gallows is having the Rock Lobster tilt up for some support.” The Rock Lobster was another Destroyer, but it was a Barracuda-class and was a bit more agile. It wouldn’t take long for them to fire, so the Siren just had to hold out.
“Captain, Archer’s are armed and ready. The Corvettes have 25% shielding. Our missiles should deal a good amount of damage.” Siren’s chilled voice spoke up next to Samuel, slightly calming him down.
“Fire at will.” Sam said, regaining his composure and looking out the glass again as a swarm of 400 missiles split into two groups, reaching out for the Corvettes.
“Missiles away.” Siren said after all 400 were launched.
“Corvettes are moving to evade, they won’t get far. Though.” Siren said with a wicked grin as the shields of the Corvettes absorbed much of the missiles, but still were peppered by the explosives.
Samuel grinned in satisfaction, which grew even more as one Corvette was pierce by a MAC slug from below. The second Corvette followed suit, taking the slug just through it’s right side. The slug ripped apart the ship’s hull, and it tilted to it’s right as it started to roll over and over. The Siren’s Kiss tilted downwards in time to see the Cruiser being pumped full of MAC shots. It bubbled and exploded in a bright blue and yellow flash.
“Captain, Captain Hunter is telling us to bug out.” Edgar said, glancing over his shoulder at his Captain.
“Olivia, Siren, Robert, get us the hell out of here.” Samuel walked back and sat in his chair as the ship shuddered, giving signs of the Translight Drives spinning up.
Samuel relaxed in his chair, sighing heavily as they ripped through space into slip-space. They were moving on a randomized jump vector, as doing so was starting to become basic protocol to keep the Covenant from finding the inner planets. Samuel didn’t care where they went, he just wanted time to think about what would have been better. As the Destroyer disappeared into the whiteness of slip-space, relief washed over him and he finally felt truly relaxed.

Biography:
Ever since he was a child back on Earth, Samuel has always been amazed with all types of ships. He’s loved the sea and space, as it was where exploring was. Even though humans had gone onto space, Samuel still loved the sea. After learning that the sea was where it all began, he couldn‘t help but love the water and he took every chance he could to go to the sea. Just to stand and watch the waves for hours at a time was what he wanted. Though, when he wasn’t at the beach, he would stare at the skies and watch the UNSC ships move around in Earth’s orbit, while daydreaming about being on one. In school, history became his favorite class, as it allowed him to learn about different ships and admirals that came before him.
After learning what it took to be a Captain, Samuel strove to be one of the best. He did whatever he could to raise his grades in school, sacrificing much of his childhood locked away in his room to study. It earned him straight As and the third seat in his class, but he still felt it wasn’t enough. Samuel used the library to study up on the sea, reading stories and folktales about the blue waters. Next to the fakes, he ready up on a few biographies of people who had been on the sea and what it was like in space, just to help prepare himself.
Once Samuel slipped through High School, he went to West Point in the United States to continue for his goal. The road only got rougher, and training was harsh on the man who never trained in his life. Samuel was a bookworm, and failed miserably at PE Class in his schools. He was never athletic, and used his head to solve most of his problems. It kept him out of fights and it helped him get into the Point. Sitting in his room for hours was catching up with him, but with the will to become Captain, he just barely passed the physical part of his schooling.
Immediately after his schooling, Samuel joined up with the UNSC, joining as a Lieutenant Junior Grade. He was placed on a Frigate as a Navigations Officer. He paid close attention to how his Captain acted, and how the man ordered his crew. He also used his position to look at the Galaxy and where everything was, both for the enjoyment of it, and to know what hadn’t been explored yet. Samuel Ellington had higher goals, and wouldn’t stay a LJG for long.
For several years he stayed on the Frigate, slowly learning more and more. He also spoke loudly, making sure the higher-ups knew who he was and what he did. He pushed his limits and worked diligently on the Frigate to hopefully reach his goal. It would take another 4 years until he reached the rank of Captain, but once he did, he began to make the best of it.

“Captain, I’ve got a visual on a pair of Covenant Frigates on the radar Sir.” Marco glanced over his shoulder at his Captain who was standing at the front of the Bridge.
“Two? Well then, looks like we won’t be as bored. Edgar, send a message to Captain Hastings then start up the warning. We’re going to go see who’s knocking on the door over there. Olivia, move us in close enough..” Captain Ellington smiled and turned, looking towards his crew as he spoke.
“Aye.” Edgar and Olivia answered nearly at the same time and followed through with their orders.
Samuel let his hands cross behind his back, locking his fingers around his wrists as he walked towards his chair. The sounds of frantic typing echoed in the quiet bridge as the crew performed their duties. Samuel couldn’t help but feel proud of his Destroyer’s crew, they worked hard, and they were very deadly when in a fight. He couldn’t ask for anyone better, and it made him glad that they were happy with him as well. They had been through a lot together, and as the two Frigates would soon learn, they weren’t new to fighting either.
“Sir, Hastings and his Destroyer are going to move with us.” Edgar, the Communications Officer spoke up over the silence as he finished reading the message from the other Captain of the UNSC Out of Proportion.
“Fine with me, let’s just be sure not to shoot them by mistake. Beacon?” Captain Samuel chuckled then turned around to stare out of the strengthened glass that separated him and his crew from the vacuum of space.
"Signal is out. It won't be long until they pick it up." Edgar responded, finishing with the beacon before taking the last sip of the coffee in his cup.
“This is going to be fun…” Ryan, the Attack Weapons Officer smirked,
Ryan was always aggressive, and he loved to shoot things. That was why Sam put him in charge of the heavy weapons. Sometimes he got out of control, but the man knew his place. He was very lucky that Sam took him onboard in the first place, as the man had a record for pulling guns on his superiors. Either way, he was a good asset in battle. Other then that, Samuel kept the man under strict protocols, and threatened to kick him off the ship if he got to crazy.
“Oh relax, it’s just two frigates.” Isaac muttered from the console next to the crazed gunner.
Isaac was also somewhat loony, but he was more under control. Samuel placed him at the Defensive Weapons station to keep track of the Point-Defense Guns, the SHIVA nukes, as well as to keep Ryan in check. The two were a good pair, and sometimes Isaac helped out by taking over the Archer Pods if a fight got to heavy. Though by this time, the fight was probably reaching its climax.
“Captain, 4 minutes till we are close enough for the one-two.” Olivia’s voice echoed over the two fools, updating the Captain on their location.
He didn’t have much to say about her, as she is in the same position as he was. Though, she may not have the same goal as he did. She was his Navigations Officer, and a damn good one. With the ability to move the ship in any direction with extreme precision, she is one of the elite Helmswomen in the UNSC fleet. Samuel couldn’t be happier to have her in that seat. He loved all of his crew, and was very satisfied that they were all where they were.
“Marco, is the Proportion behind us?” Samuel glanced to his right at the ONI Intelligence Officer that was at his respective console.
“Aye, they are on our right flank sir.” Marco responded quickly and cleaning after glancing at the radar on his console.
“Good. Ryan, charge the MACs and arm all Archer Pods. You never know what these Covenant freaks are up to.” Samuel finally released his wrists and sat down in his chair, relaxing his arms on their respective rests.
“Aye, MACs are already at 90%, they will take 3 minutes to fully charge. Arming all Archer Pods.” Ryan’s hands skittered across the orange console keys as he did what he was told.
“Very good. Olivia, kick the engines to 100. I want a shot on both of those Frigates before the Proportion can get a shot.” Samuel leaned forward in his chair, placing his elbows on his knees and clasping his hands together in front of his face, resting his mouth and chin in a small hole created by moving his thumbs up.
It was a habit, and it kept him still as he waited for the time to move along. His eyes were glued to thw pair of Covenant Frigates as they turned to try and run from the UNSC Destroyers. The Frigates would be a good match for the UNSC ships, but they didn’t seem to want to fight. Maybe they had dropped off at the wrong spot, which was very rare for the Covenant. Either way, they were meat for the dog, and the dog was very hungry. Hungry to the point that the dog would shove it’s mouth into the gut of the meat and blast it apart in one go if it could.
The stars began to shift more as Olivia cranked up the thrusters, pushing the fusion cores to their limits as to push the Siren’s Kiss into battle. Samuel stared at the two Frigates, grinning more and more as they drew closer and closer to the fangs of his vessel. Two minutes passed of just staring at the two ships before the battle alarms blared. The AI Siren must’ve felt that the crew would need to be awake, and Samuel was glad that she did this. It snapped him from his eagerness to fight, and brought him back to thinking clearly. His mind went back into battle mode, and he started to think about the Frigates.
Either the two ships dropped out because of ship problems, or they were luring the Destroyers out. Covenant weren’t dumb enough to drop out of slip-space just to engage two UNSC Ships, as the Siren and the Proportion were the only two known ships in the area. Unless the Covenant really wanted the two of them dead. Samuel never overlooked being the target, as he had been before back in an engagement after dropping out of slip-space because of a bad jump and ended up in the middle of a fight between a few UNSC ships and some Covenant. Once the Siren came out and began to fight, it seemed everything was aimed at them. Being fired at by a lot of ships wasn’t new to him, and two Frigates were easy kills.
“30 seconds until we’re in range. MACs and Archers are armed. Acquiring firing solution.” Ryan’s voice made Samuel tick, and a grin etched across his face again.
“Once we’re in range, take down the furthest Frigate. Fire MAC 1 and Archer Pods 1-8. Once you shoot, target the second Frigate but hold your fire.” Samuel wanted to send a message, and that second Frigate would be that message.
“Aye. 5 seconds till firing.” Ryan said, tapping his console as he counted down.
Once the five seconds passed, Ryan yelled for the Covenant to burn, then fired off the first MAC blast, letting it barrel into the tail of the far Covenant Frigate and out of it’s nose, exploding just as it exited. Behind the MAC, and all around the hull of the ship, the Archer missiles impacted with a devastating effect. The Frigate craned and boiled under the heat of the explosions, cracking and splitting into pieces from being ripped apart by sudden decompression. A few more moments passed before the reactors of the ship gave out, failed, and exploded. The Second Frigate had by then moved up next to the already gone ship, and was hit hard by the exploding debris, forcing it’s shields to fail.
“Edgar.” Samuel stood up, crossing his hands behind his back.
“Forcing the connection through. You’re on.” Edgar said just as the Captain finished. The man knew the drill, and had already been working on breaking into the Covenant’s system to establish the connection.
“We are the UNSC Siren’s Kiss, a human heavy-Destroyer. We humans are here in this galaxy as well, and we’re going to make damn sure that you know it. Now run along home and tell your friends what happened for. Let them know that the Siren’s Kiss is coming for them, as we are going to make sure that every god damn one of you alien f****ers feels the pain of our Cannons! Ryan! Fire the archers! Let them feel a taste!” Samuel roared, allowing his voice to travel through the connection to the Frigate.
“Aye! Firing!” Ryan tapped a few buttons and a swarm of archer missiles reached out into the darkness, peppering the Frigate with explosions before it tore a hole into slip-space.
The mass of missiles that were still in flight slammed into the tail end of the Frigate as it pushed inside of it’s hole. The bridge crew cheered in victory and Samuel could only smirk. He sat down in his chair and rubbed his knees in fear. Sometimes he wondered what he was doing, and this was one of those times. There was a target on his ship now probably, and the Covenant would be coming for them. Good. A wicked grin crossed Samuel’s face as he stared into the blackness at the debris of the Frigate he destroyed.
“Olivia, plot a coarse for Reach. There’s no Covenant around here anymore. Let’s get rearmed and patched up. Edgar, relay to the Proportion that we’re leaving. What they do is up to them. Let’s go before the entire freaking armada shows up.” Samuel laughed and sat back in his chair as the Shaw-Fujikawa Translight Drives ripped a hole in space for the Destroyer, allowing them passage into slip-space as they headed back to Reach…
