Commanding Officer: Commander Ethan Wrangler
Ship AI (Do I need an AI?)
Detailed Information
Crew Patch/Badge:
On the right shoulder of each crew member, a circular patch is embroidered into the fabric of the Dress uniforms. The patch is composed of a double-lined circle, a crossing sword and staff, a flaming phoenix, the name of the ship, and initials of the crew member. Outlining the circle, the first ring around is a solid gold color, primed with a coating of nickel to make it reflective in the light. Just beneath it, towards the middle of the circle, is another ring. This second ring is colored green, but does not reflect in the light. Instead, it glows in the dark. Both rings are used to find crew members if something goes wrong. The downfall is that the enemy can also see the rings which can be fatal for a crew member who is trying to hide.
Within the protection of the rings, the name of the ship runs along the top of the circle along the red ring. On the bottom, the initials of the crew member as well as his/her rank abbreviation set on the red ring. The name is threaded with the same material of the red ring, allowing it to glow in the dark to help identify the crewmember. This is just an extra piece of material though, as very rarely does the patch actually stay together. Medics and Doctors on the ship do use the tag time to time, incase if the member is to heavily wounded to say his/her name.
The main sight of the patch, and the pride of the ship itself, is the fiery emblem of the crew. A sword and staff cross, forming a solid X in front of a red phoenix. The sword, grey and silver, overlaps the brown staff, symbolizing bravery, and the will to strike first in battle. The staff under the sword represents the wisdom of the crew, as well as their perseverance in the fight against death even as the ship gets old.
Besides the names, the rings, the circle, the staff, and sword, the true center of attention is the well details, flaming phoenix in the middle of it all. Its wings extend to the walls of the circle, blazing in mixes of orange and yellow. The bird’s head is tilted upwards and side ways, its beak split as if it was screeching to the blackness of the circle’s interior. Its black eyes glare outwards, a white dot in the middle to show where it is looking… which is outwards toward the being looking at it. The firebirds left claw is clenching the hilt of the sword, but its right is extended downwards and hovers over the name of the crewmember. The phoenix is seen as a sort of rebirth symbol, as is used just like that; a sign of rebirth after death and forever living, even after the worst-case scenario.
The right claw of the bird is to show a defensiveness or protectiveness over the crewmember. Show that a higher-being is looking over the soldier even in the darkest of times, guiding him/her through the battle towards a brighter tomorrow. And if the soldier doesn’t make it, he/she will be born again in a better life then before.
Physical Description:
Being apart of the UNSCN for only 10 years, this Stealth Frigate hasn’t seen much action besides a few scout runs. Being commandeered by consistently very patient and calm Captains, along with having a solid crew, the Wing has been able to avoid much combat. The current Captain, Commander Wrangler, was previously on a Prowler and has had experience with being stealthy. Being given a gun to shoot with, the Wing has become slightly more aggressive then in the past. The past engagements have required some small repairs on the hull. Other than the few stitches, the only originality of the Ship are red stripes on the side of the hull, 3 to be exact, showing how many craft the Wing has Destroyed. Mostly to show that the little ships still can fight like cruisers and dish out some damage.
Biography:
Crated in 2515, the Raven’s Wing was created just over Reach. It was supposed to be more of a recon ship, like a Prowler, for ONI’s usage but with a little more bite. The initial crew was a bit scared to use the craft as a prowler since the stealth systems weren’t as good, so they instead decided to put the ship through its paces. For two years, it was pushed around through slip-space, weapon tests, engine tests, and even had to go against a Rebel-captured Frigate. ONI was pleased to hear the Frigate didn’t know they were there until the Wing had fired its MAC into the rear-section of the ship.
Yet, the naïve crew accidentally drifted too far ahead of the disabled ship, and was hit by several ARCHER missiles. The ship suddenly went dark, and all communications were cut. When a Destroyer and two Escort Frigates arrived a few hours later for the Rebels, the Wing was found drifting helplessly in the system. When a search party comprised of ODSTs was sent in, the crew was found dead except for a few who were in hiding. Rebels were found trying to take control of the system near the bridge, but were kept out by the ship’s AI. The two ships were escorted back to Harvest and the Wing underwent repairs. A new crew was assigned, and the veterans of the old crew were kept onboard to teach them instead of putting them all through training again.
The next year, in 2518, the new crew of the Raven’s Wing was dispatched to assist in an expedition to a newfound system named Sector-19-8 to scout for life. Upon entering the system, the ship dropped out of slip-space at the dark side of a planet. The ship immediately went stealth as radar picked up insurrectionist contacts on the other side of the planet. A short S.O.S. signal was sent out, and the Frigate went into Prowler mode.
The crew remained still, staying opposite the rebels for 6 days before reinforcements arrived. The last signal before hell’s gates open was from a young crew member aboard the Destroyer Sagittarius’s Heel and composed of one word to the fleet;
“This is about to get FUBARed…”
Not even an hour later, Rebel forces dropped out of slip-space, as well as UNSC reinforcements for the coming fight. The Raven’s Wing had found an insurrectionist staging area. Stealth Frigates peaked out and spread across the little 4 planet system, and took up ambush positions while the large UNSC ships remained dark on the outside of the system. The system suddenly became a clusterfuck when Commodore Daniel Hamalton called for the fight.
UNSC Destroyers, Frigates, and Cruisers lit up from the blackness, and Rebel forces scrambled. From the darkness of space, 15 UNSC ships fired on a group of targets, blasting 6 Rebel ships around the main planet to simple debris. To their dismay, the Rebel’s weren’t stupid. The Wing was jumped, as it still remained behind the rebel controlled planet, by a Rebel stolen Frigate again. This time, the shoe was on the other foot for a few moments. Until that is, the Frigate crashed into several HORNET-mines. The Wing noticed the blip on the radar and swung itself around, using its turrets to shoot out a few coming ARCHERs. By the time the Frigate was ready to move again, the Wing was simply waiting for signs of life. When the Frigate twitched, a MAC round tore through the bridge, followed by a wave of ARCHERs into the rear engine-section. The Rebel’s didn’t last, and majority of their escape-pods were struck down by the Wing’s Turrets.
The Wing returned to Harvest in 2520 after helping with the ground invasions of the 4 planets. Few repairs were done from debris-damaged and the ship was rearmed. During their time at the dock, rebels boarded the Frigate, and sabotaged the slip-space drive and several life-support systems with explosives, extending the repair time as well as killing some of the crew. It wasn’t until early 2525 until the Raven was flying again. The ship just left Harvest for the colony of Atlas when the Covenant arrived.
The Raven and two Frigates returned to Harvest in 2526 to scout the system, and were engaged by a passing Covenant Frigate and a Corvette. The three ships dropped out of slip-space behind the Covenant vessels, and swiftly fired on them. The Corvette was destroyer by a MAC shot and a wave of Archers, while the Frigate was disabled, for a moment. When the Wing reloaded, the Covenant Frigate was shot in the core and destroyed. The three ships left the system immediately after in fear of being attacked.
In 2527, the Wing was dispatched to Reach and was told to be on the defensive and scan for Covenant forces. 4 years of this passed and the Wing was ordered to follow a wave of ships, and popped out of slip-space with its new assignment; RRTF-I

Organization:
Affiliation: UNSC Navy
Battle group: RRTF-I
Crew:
Commander Ethan Wrangler (Ship CO)
Race: Human
Age: 29
Height:5’8”
Weight: 175
Description:
A man of war, and a man of his word, Commander Wrangler is not someone to be taken lightly. With his entire career in ONI Section-III, he has seen and heard many secrets trickle about the UNSC and has participated in the application of a few. His file is mostly black inked, and at one point was erased from the books for a few months. A true spook, it is a wonder why he decided to take to the stars. Some say it was for the exploration. He says that “there is more out there then there is behind a desk”. But his wife, who is also the Raven’s Navigation Officer, says that the true reason was so that he could travel the night with her. A man of his word, Wrangler made a promise to his wife that they would have a family amongst the stars, and seeks to fulfill that dream.
Lieutenant Commander Francisco Valentino (Ship XO and Ground-Force commander)
Race:Human
Age:35
Height: 5’7”
Weight: 217
Description:
Being apart of the military for much of his life after he turned 20, Francisco is a very burly man compared to his crewmates. Out sizing majority of the soldiers, Commander Wrangler sometimes teases that Francisco should be dropping to the surface with the ODSTs. Though, if he wanted to, he probably could. The tattoo of the ODSTs on his left arm distinguishes his 6 years in the Troop, but from the scars across his arms and his chest, along with a gash from his left cheek to his ear, show that it wasn’t an easy ride down.
After earning his third purple heart, and losing his left eye, Francisco was grounded permanently. His pod was locked in front of him by ONI, and without much notice, Francisco was taken from the spec-ops and brought back to Reach. Here, he assisted in the training of several more ODSTs before he was given a letter from NAVCOM. His enlistment had run out, and he was asked to either leave, or sign back up. Instead of signing onto the Marines again, Francisco decided he would rather be an eye in the sky and help from above where he would be more useful. A month later, Francisco was in the back of a pelican, destined for the Raven’s Wing, which he had seen several times in the sky before.
Lieutenant Junior Grade Solonos Hanry (Ship’s Weapon’s Officer)
Race:Human
Age:24
Height: 5’7”
Weight: 196
Description:
As an aggressive person, Solonos (nicknamed Han Solo for his accuracy on the range, and his name) found his home on the Raven’s Wing a year before his twin Relonos. After a very bloody 3 years in the marines Solonos proved to be a very vital shooter to the UNSC forces during many rebel incursions. His name came up a lot during the war, whether it was for his high number of kills, or to be deployed. Reaching the rank of Lieutenant in just a few years, he earned the nickname Han Solo permanently. Though, he was sick of the fighting and wanted to see more of the galaxy, and hopefully find his twin brother (who of which left at the age of 16 to help in the war). Solonos was lucky, as the navy needed just as many brave souls in their ships as the Marines and Army needed on the frontlines against the Covenant. Solonos was recommended by his Captain of his weapon skills, and was put directly into action as an Ensign on the ship “Waverly Wind” as the co-weapons officer. It only took the man a year before his magical skill showed that it was well invested in, and the nickname well earned. During a battle in the system Julio-4, Solonos stepped up to head the Wind’s dual MACs after the Chief Weapons officer was stuck in the rear of the ship. The Waverly was jumped by a Covenant Frigate, and the Captain ordered Solonos to take the gun with the help of the ship’s AI. With the lives of the crew in hand, Han Solo did not waste time putting his training into action, and earned his first kill of his career. For his efforts, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade and transferred to the Raven’s Wing.
Lieutenant Junior Relonos Hanry (Ship’s Communications Officer)
Race: Human
Age: 24
Height: 5’7”
Weight: 182
Description:
Unlike his twin Relonos was set on what he wanted to do with his life, years before Solonos. It was his 16th birthday when Relonos pulled his father aside for the talk of military service. His father, a veteran pelican pilot, was happy to help his son go. Though, his mother was hysterical, and his brother wasn’t to happy either. Relonos gave his final goodbye and left for the Navy, joining as a Lieutenant Junior Grade after 2 years of college paid for by the UNSC. He was assigned onto the Frigate “From Dusk Till Dawn” at first as their Communications Officer. Very quick with his fingers, and aware of his surroundings, Relonos fit right in with the requirements and stress of his job. At the age of 18, the man was actively working his body consistently to the limit and spent hours in the infirmary from Stress-Related Illnesses, but always found himself returning to the seat for more.
His skill in keeping the ship connected to the fleet, and ability to keep cool under pressure got him a recommendation to ONI’s prowler fleet. Without even knowing, Relonos was sent to Earth for ONI-Tech training. Yet, even after his 3 years in the training sessions, it wouldn’t prepare him for the fight of his life against the Covenant.
Lieutenant Elizabeth Wrangler (Ship’s Intelligence/Navigation’s Officer)
Race: Human
Age: 27
Height: 5’4”
Weight: 119
Description:
Not to be taken lightly because of her size, Elizabeth is not a woman any man would want to tangle with. Doubling as both the Raven’s Wing’s navigations, and intelligence officer, she doesn’t take moving the hunk of junk lightly. During stressful times, Elizabeth sometimes takes charge of the bridge with her femininity and uses it to get the information she needs. Though, it doesn’t work all the time, as she respects the chain of command and lets her husband run the ship as he should. Having to grow up in a man’s world, Elizabeth isn’t at all gentle or tender during times of war and is feared by much of the bridge crew when they are fighting. Some of the men joke that she should be at the weapons systems, but Ethan simply laughs and shakes his head, which usually ends with him being hit in some way.
Being in ONI all of her career, much like her husband, she has always been apart of the Prowler fleet but retains her rank due to several complications with superior officers. She’s even put a man to the brink of death, but that was wiped off as he was charged with attempted rape. She met Wrangler a few years after joining up with the fleet on Reach while on leave. He was assigned to her ship as a field intelligence officer while she was on intelligence in the ship. The two worked closely with each other, both on and off duty. She watched him from the ship do his job, as well as walk through the ranks as if it was a cake-walk. When they decided to get married, they were assigned to the Raven’s Wing together and Ethan had earned his rank of Commander.
OPERATION: CORNERED-RAT [/b][/size]
Out of the blackness of the large dusty planet codenamed; Planet Alpha, a black silhouetted frigate emerged into the sunlight. The craft moved slowly, turning and twisting ever so slightly in the vacuum as it lined its main weapon up. With engines burning at a seamless 10%, the ship barely even moved, only poking its head out of the shadows. Only a few moments passed before a bright, short flash illuminated an outline of a monster. Its single MAC lit up like a candle, exploding outwards into space at a target several miles into the distance. The debris around the mars-like planet coiled and split away as the round tore through it like paper, spreading apart by their inertia. Moments after the shot, a sharp explosion flashed in the distance on the light side of the planet as an unsuspecting Insurrectionist Frigate was pierced by the WMD.
“Hit…” A male tone echoed across the communications channel in a whisper, and the Frigate began to twist.
“Loading…” A more feminine voice followed, almost digital in its sounding, over the channel.
“This is the UNSCS Black Beard, we’re taking the shot.” Another voice spoke up, and a flash flared in the distance.
“UNSCS Raven here; tracking your shot Black Beard…”
“Roger, waiting for confirmation.”
“UNSCS Rock-Wall, we’re following the Beard. Lighting up the target.”
“Copy that Wall, Raven will confirm.”
“Rock-Wall, hold your fire, wait for the shot.”
“Copy that Eagle Talon, Rock-Wall holding.”
Suddenly, another Insurrectionist ship was broken into by a MAC Round, taking its second hit. The ship crippled around the wound, and finally began to crack and compress. From the darkness behind Planet Alpha, the stealth frigate with two red stripes emerged and drifted forward slightly. As the Rebel ship crackled and finally broke in half from the pressure of space, the frigate halted itself in a position where it could see the destruction unfold. Across the starboard side, the words “Raven’s Wing” were engraved in pure white lettering, and reflected much of the light from the system’s red sun.
“Hit confirmed, another ship down. Rock-Wall, switch targets.” A female voice called from the Raven, but suddenly 6 Friendly destroyers appeared on the map before the ship commanders.
“Who the hell-Identify yourselves!?” A man called from the Talon; Admiral Stiner, the leader of the fleet.
The 6 new destroyers stayed silent as they moved forward past the line of UNSC ships, their MACs boring down on the rebel fleet. In unison, 12 MAC shots flashed in the darkness as all 6 Destroyers fired. This caused a sudden outburst of commotion amongst the fleet, then silence as all 12 rounds pierce Rebel ships.
“Holy mother…” Another Captain mumbled as the destruction reached his eyes.
“Who ordered those shots!?!” The Admiral yelled at the Destroyers
“This is the UNSCS Born To Fly, we have received orders from NAVCOM to eliminate all targets immediately.”
“And why was I not given these order-“ The man stopped and cut himself off as some commotion in the back round of his microphone ensued. Several quiet minutes followed before the man returned.
“This is Admiral Patrick Stiner of the UNSC Eagle Talon, all UNSC craft eliminate any and all Insurrectionist targets. Do not wait for confirmation. UNSC Raven’s Wing, reposition yourself away from the rebels so you are not hit by friendly fire. We wait for your word of safety. All ships, acquire targets whether it is damaged or not.” The Admiral spoke steadily and sternly, as if someone had just put a pistol to his head.
------------------------
“Copy that Eagle Talon, Raven’s Wing moving.” Commander Ethan Wrangler spoke up for his crew before cutting off his microphone.
“What was that all about sir?” Solonos asked, turning from his station on the left side of the bridge, his hands remaining above his console.
“Not sure, but those ships wouldn’t have shot unless something was up.” Ethan muttered, walking to the right side of the bridge to his wife.
“Did we get anything?” He asked, leaning over her.
“Yea, a few minutes ago. I was reading it over, sorry Commander. NAVCOM did ask for the elimination of the Rebel Fleet though.” She spoke evenly and slowly for the Commander to hear.
“More like slaughter…” Relonos whispered to his twin, who just nodded and looked over the weapons.
““ONI’s calling for the deployment of our special-operations team ground-side after the Rebel fleet is destroyed. Sir, they want us to infiltrate the rebel compound.” Elizabeth muttered in a soft, worried tone.
“Sometimes I don’t understand this job. They tell us to take it slow and wait for a transport fleet for prisoners, but instead we get 6 destroyers and are told to take no prisoners.” Ethan nipped his lip as he walked back to his chair in the middle of the bridge.
“Maybe there’s a high value target that needs to be killed?” Relonos asked, looking over his shoulder to the others.
“ONI? Let a high-valued target go? Unlikely.” The ship XO, Francisco, chuckled from his own station next to Elizabeth.
“Very unlikely…” Ethan whispered in agreement as he looked out to the darkness.
“Elizabeth, move us away. We have no choice. France, get the ODSTs ready. Have a few marines prepare themselves as well for immediate reinforcement if I am a toilet. hits the fan. Relonos, see if you can’t get me someone from ONI. Solonos, ready the weapon systems.” Ethan leaned back in his chair, unbuttoning the top of his navy dress uniform to let some cooler air get into his chest. The situation just got from something easy, to stressful in only a few moments. Now he had to risk his troopers over something he didn’t even know about.
“Roger.” The voices of the crew sounded off simultaneously and the crew of the ship came to life as war called for them all again.
The Raven turned to its right, away from the planet but off to the side as to avoid being hit by any friendly forces. Its engines pushed it forward at 90%, rushing the small frigate out into the light. It moved fast, not wanting to hold up the other ships. The Raven turned slowly to the left, spinning without stopping its momentum so the ship continued to drift away from the ship. Once the ship was floating backwards, Elizabeth sent the word. Seconds later, several stars flashed in the distance then died as the UNSC MACs from the small fleet reached out into the blackness, grabbing the Insurrectionist, and turned it into floating debris.
Admiring the skilled shots of their distance allies, the Raven’s Wing remained quiet, staring towards the destruction as they waited. Not for the debris to clear, and not because they were amazed at the destruction. They waited for the call to attack the planet, which came swiftly and put the Wing on full burn towards it.
“Commander, ODST teams Zeta, Delta, and Terra are ready for the drop. Teams Red, Beta, and Alpha will be ready to go down with the Marines.” Francisco spoke up from his corner as the ship began to close on the planet.
“ONI is calling for the search of all intelligence on the planet, and the capturing of the leaders of the base. All others are to be killed… No survivors… MAC rounds are to be used after all UNSC forces are safely back onboard…” Elizabeth trailed off as her brain deciphered what that meant.
“Elizabeth.” Ethan called out, and the female officer looked over her shoulder as she snapped out of her thoughts.
“Relay the objectives to the ODSTs during the drop and assist them. Launch STARS across the mission area as we fly-by. I don’t want any mishaps please.” Ethan rubbed his forehead as a headache pained his thinking.
“Aye sir, readying STARS.” Elizabeth spoke, disappearing into the pedestal again.
“Francisco, are the Troopers ready?” Ethan looked up, seeing the surface of the alien planet on his left grow bigger and bigger as they began to push into the outer reaches of its atmosphere.
“Yes sir, ready to drop on your mark.” Francisco responded quickly, his finger hovering over the ODST pod-release.
“Drop them…” The Commander paused as the ship shuddered ever so slightly, and moved into a very high orbit. On the ground around the planet, he could see the large staging area which was much bigger then he thought.
“Now! Launch them now! Elizabeth! Slow us down hard! Son of a-“ Ethan slammed his fist hard on his chair. The ship shook again as the troopers were launched towards the surface for the battle.
“That’s going to become a FUBAR fight fast, launch marines now! Get those troopers immediate assistance on touchdown!”
“Copy that sir!” Francisco called and turned on the ship’s radio system.
“All marines! Launch! Go now!”
“I WANT THEM ON THE GROUND NOW GOD DAMN IT!” Ethan yelled, standing up and turning to his XO.
“Yes sir! Marines! Down on the ground as fast as possible! Get those troopers back-up!”
Ethan growled then looked forward to the planet, hatred and anger for both the Rebels and ONI in his eyes as his men went to fight. It’s always misinformation that gets people killed, and as far as he knows, he just sent 148 men and women to their death. He could only hope that his soldiers were smart enough, and skilled enough, to take on the Rebels. Though, they had lasted so far…
“Commander, ODSTs have touched down. They have engaged heavy rebel forces but have a foothold. Marines are 2 minutes behind them.” Francisco called out.
“The ship is also in high orbit, we have visuals via helmets and our shipside cameras.” Elizabeth muttered, leaning over her console as she looked over the cameras.
“Good… Relay to the Admiral, Operation Cornered-Rat is in it’s final stages. Send for reinforcements. I don’t want out shooters to outgunned. Give them all the support we can.” The commander sighed and relaxed back in his chair and settled in, staring towards the.
“Aye.” The crew echoed, and the ship settled down some, ready and waiting to move again when the time called.
